The petrol variant has become dearer by Rs 30,000, while the diesel variant by Rs 40,000.
Renault India has hiked prices of its hot-selling compact SUV, the 2012 Renault Duster by up to Rs 30,000 for the petrol variant and by up to Rs 40,000 for the diesel variant. The price hike will be effective from 1 October 2012 across the country.
The hike in prices has been attributed to the rising input cost, inflationary pressures and increase in freight as a result of the increase in diesel prices.

Following the rise in input cost and the fluctuating value of the Indian rupee, Audi India had annouced a price hike for its Q3 2.0 TDI SUV last week, while Honda hiked the price of its Brio, Jazz and the City models by up to 2.6 percent. Maruti Suzuki India too, hinted last week that a price hike across its entire model range will be put into effect.
