Love the idea of squeezing your family of seven into the little Duster? Renault will offer the additional cushioning!
We recently drove the Renault Duster to bring you our detailed three-part review of the new compact crossover. Since it’s a compact crossover, the blokes at Renault have provided comfortable seating for five. However, since we Indians generally have big families and love to move around together – the need of a seven seater vehicle in the house becomes all the more important. This is one of the primary reasons why most SUVs sold in India bear a seven-seater configuration. Renault understands this need and has decided to address it.

Soon, Renault will offer additional jump-seats in the boot, which will let you stash away your kids in the third row. These seats, however, will be provided as a dealer level accessory and not a company / ARAI tested fitment. Renault India has confirmed that this accessory will be available soon, along with other bits like bull-bars, extended side steps etc. The carmaker hasn’t commented on the pricing though.
With the sort of handling that the Duster offers, we are sure that your kids won’t suffer from motion sickness in the third row – but that said, these aren’t ARAI tested seats, so we aren’t quite sure about their safety in case of a mishap.
