Speculated to be a re-badged Nissan Sunny, the new sedan is likely to be tagged as Renault Scala.
Riding high on the success of its latest launch - the Duster, Renault India is planning to add another model to its range of cars that include Pulse, Fluence, Koleos and the Duster SUV. The fifth model (a C-segment sedan) will be a rebadged Nissan Sunny with a few design changes to make it look like a Renault. The car is likely to be called the Renault Scala.
Renault is no stranger to the concept of badge engineering, the company has already put the strategy to use for the Nissan Micra and the Pulse hatchback; both the cars are identical inside-out except for a few exterior design changes. There are even rumors that Renault and Nissan are already considering cross badging the Renault Duster and the upcoming Evalia MPV.

The Scala will be completely based on the Sunny. The bodywork (with a few design changes), interior, engine options, drivetrain and rest of the bits will be sourced from Nissan. Since, mechanicals will be unchanged, we expect the Scala to come powered by 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines that are currently available with the Nissan Sunny. A CVT automatic gearbox, which is currently being developed might also be offered in near future.
The Scala had been earlier slated for a year-end launch, however Renault now plans to put it on sale before the festive season.
