The entire range will be manufactured at company’s Rs 250 crore Bangalore facility.

The premium bus segment in India is all set to witness some interesting action now that Scania – one of the most well known commercial vehicle makers in the world, has rolled out its intercity Metrolink buses in India.
The three all new models in the Metrolink range of premium buses include HD 45-seater, HD 49-seater and HD 53-seater. While the 9-litre, 310PS engine-powered HD 45-seater model is offered in double axle form, the longer HD 49 and 53-seater (with a more powerful 13-litre engine) are three-axle models.
The entire Metrolink range will be manufactured at Scania's Bangalore facility, where the company has invested around Rs 250 crore. While the assembly of coaches at the facility will begin early next year, Scania will roll out the initial models later this year as CBUs (completely built units).
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Anders Grundströmer, Managing Director Scania Commercial Vehicle India and Senior Vice President Scania Group, says, “It is with great pride that Scania makes India the first market worldwide to enjoy the benefits of the Scania Metrolink, a new range of intercity coaches, with a distinct Scania character, bristling with state-of-the-art technology. Scania has been at the forefront, developing new coach concepts and technologies during more than a century. It gives us great pleasure to now bring the world-renowned Scania buses and coaches to India. Our products are known for their outstanding fuel economy and high uptime, and ensuring low operating costs”
