The Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler will come in via the CBU route.

Last year, Fiat India officially announced that the iconic SUV brand Jeep will make its way to our rough and rugged shores by mid-2013. While the American brand has a wide selection of cars in its portfolio, first of the models to be introduced in the Indian market will be the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Both of which will sold as CBUs (Completely Built Units) via a dedicated dealer network by Fiat.
These latest set of spy images indicate that Jeep indeed is well on track to enter the premium SUV segment of India. The three cars spotted in Pune are the Grand Cherokee, the Wrangler and the Wrangler 4-door. While the Grand Cherokee is expected to kick off Jeep’s Indian innings, we are not sure if the company would launch both the standard and the long wheelbase, 4-door version of the Wrangler.

Under the hood, the Grand Cherokee is expected to be powered by a 3-litre V6 diesel engine followed by a petrol variant at a later stage. The Wrangler on the other hand is likely to get a 2.8-litre diesel engine with around 200 PS of power and 410 Nm of torque. Given the fact these upcoming models will be entirely imported, expect pricing for the Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler to be in the range of Rs 35 to 45 and Rs 25 to 35 lakh respectively.
