The next generation SX4 will have the Kizashi-inspired design language.
The SX4 is quite a potent platform that has spawned various vehicle form factors like a 4x4 compact crossover, a hatchback and a sedan. It’s a platform that is jointly developed by Fiat and Suzuki and while the SX4 sedan is sold in India, Fiat sells the 4x4 compact crossover under the name, Sedici. But since Fiat is now concentrating its efforts on the 500X – a crossover based on the 500 supermini, Suzuki seems to have gone solitary and is reportedly testing the next generation SX4 in Spain.

As can be seen in the photos posted by online publication Motor Authority, the new SX4 test mule seems to be in the mid-term stages of development with most of the bodywork in place, albeit under heavy camouflage. The car being tested here is a sportback, but the hatch and sedan versions are expected to follow suit at a later stage. The front fascia, expectedly, is inspired heavily from the Kizashi’s design language. While the bonnet and the grille seem to have a flowing design like the Kizashi, the ORVM’s have an angular sculpting.
The SX4, frankly, hasn’t been a big success for the Maruti Suzuki brand in India – so we are not sure whether the carmaker will consider the new SX4 sedan for India as and when the next generation model is ready. Apart from India, the SX4 sedan is also sold in the Chinese, European and US markets with varied powertrain options. Since this is the first time we are seeing spy shots of the next generation SX4 on test, we are sure there will be more to follow in the near future. So stay tuned to OnCars for all the updates!
