Designed to take on the Mercedes-Benz CLA, the A3 sedan could make it to the Indian market.

Audi’s A3 based sedan has been in the works for a while; the car was first shown as a concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, followed by the radical petrol/electric hybrid version at the Shanghai Motor Show.
Prototypes of the A3 sedan have been caught on camera on a few occasions, but it looks like we won’t have to wait much for this four-door compact sedan as Audi is expected to launch it globally before end-2013.
Based on Volkswagen’s flexible MQB platform, the A3 sedan follows Audi’s current design language with single frame grill and A6-ish headlamps. The car has been chiefly designed to appeal to American and Chinese buyers, but what interests us the most at this point is that following its global debut, the A3 sedan could very well make it to our shores.
Back in 2011, Audi India had reportedly announced its plan to launch the A3 based sedan. However, don’t hold your breath just yet as we do not expect the A3 sedan to come to India before 2014.
