Spied: Skoda Yeti LWB in China

This may come as a surprise to some, but the fact remains that motorists in China prioritize rear seat comfort above all else a car has to offer. In fact, the Chinese look for chauffer driven cars even more than we do. It also explains how a variety of carmakers are now offering purpose built, long wheelbase versions based on the existing models specifically for the Chinese market.

Skoda, for one, is readying a stretched version of its compact crossover, the Yeti which boasts of 60mm longer wheelbase than that of the standard model. This LWB version of the Yeti promises to offer an enhanced back seat experience with more space and comfort. 

Although the China-spec Yeti visually remains the same as the one sold here, it’s a completely different car underneath. It will be powered by 1.4 and 1.8 TSI engines and will come with 2WD and 4WD configurations.       

In spite of the fact that the Indian market is no different from the Chinese in demand for extra room at the back; we will not be getting the Yeti LWB as it will be built and made available solely in China under the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture.
