Suzuki Swift crosses 3 million sales mark worldwide

Of which, sales in India alone accounted for 45 per cent or 1.35 million units, over eight years and two months.
Suzuki Motor Corporation has announced a new sales milestone for its flagship hatchback, the Suzuki Swift. Since, the model's inception in 2004, over three million units have found homes across the globe in precisely eight years and two months.
The first ever model of Suzuki Swift was built and sold in Japan in November 20114. The following year, production began in India, Hungary and China. Today, the Swift is sold in more than 120 countryes and regions worldwide. In Malaysia, the Swift is also locally assembled at DRB-Hicom's plant in Pekan, Pahang.
Out of the cumulative worldwide sales over the eight years of production of the Swift, India accounted for 45 per cent or 1.35 million units, while Japan accounted for 13 percent and Europe contributed 23 per cent.
The Suzuki Swift won the Automotive Researchers' and Journalists' Conference of Japan Car of the Year in 2006 and 2011, and the 2005-2006 Japan Car of the Year Special Award 'Most Fun' prize, as well as various car of the year awards in Europe, India and countries worldwide.
The model was fully redeveloped in 2010 as a new standard compact car with improved environmental performance.
