Tata Motors sales dip by 3 per cent in June 2012

Tata Motors have reported a 3 per cent decline in its total sales in the month of June 2012 with 64,341 units sold. In the passenger cars segment, sales declined by 22 per cent to 17,244 units as compared to 21,994 units sold in June 2011. 

While, the company's Indica and Indigo range saw a dip in sales by 35 per cent and 46 per cent respectively, Tata Motor's small car, Nano recorded an increase in sales by up to 3 per cent with total sales of 5,605 units. In the year ago period, Tata Nano had clocked sales of 5,452 units. Tata Motor's Sumo, Safari, Arai and Venture range together clocked sales of 3,649 units, which is 5 per cent up from the 3,472 units sold in year ago period. 

Overall, the company's domestic sales of commercial and passenger vehicles for the month dipped by 5 per cent with total sales of 58,270 units as compared to 61,266 units in the year-ago period. 

In terms of export market however, the sales grew by 19 per cent to 6,701 units compared to 5,094 units in June 2011.
