Vehicle registration details to be available online in Maharashtra

Vehicle registration details like vehicle number, owner’s name and registered address will soon be accessible on the Maharashtra RTO’s website. This system will list details of all vehicles that are registered with the Maharashtra RTO and is expected to commence from January 2012.

Though no details only the level of access to this system has yet been provided, we believe that giving such an access to any and everybody will have its pros and cons. Whole such a system will help reduce vehicular crime like auto-theft, hit-and-run cases, illegal sale etc., it will also give any and everyone an easy access to your name and address information by purely keying in your vehicle registration number. Since this system is debatable, we’ll have to wait till the state government releases more information regarding the same.
