Watch the new G-Class as it takes its first public bow in the Indian market.
Just a little while back, Mercedes Benz India launched the new and outrageous G63 AMG SUV in the Indian market at starting price of Rs 1.46 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai). We bring to you the unveiling video of the new G-Class in which, the potent SUV takes its first public bow in the Indian market.
The model was first showcased at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show and has now replaced the out-going G55 AMG model in the country. As we expected, the design of the new G-Class has been kept largely untouched - except for a few minor updates - to keep in line with the design tradition of the SUV that hasn't evolved though its 33 years of existence. The minor updates such as the new front grille, front bumper, new LED lights and stylish 20-inch alloys however, make the new G-Class look even more aggressive and outrageous. The new G-Class also features side mounted exhaust pipes, which ways out from the bottom of the rear doors on each side.
On the inside, there are a number of new features and updates such as a new TFT screen with Command system, new leather upholstery and leather door panelling. Other key features include Curise Control, Partronic, blind spot assist, reverse camera to name a few. Safety features include ABS, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Trailer Stability Assist and Hill Hold Assist.
Under the hood, is the potent twin-turbocharged, 5.5-litre V8 engine that coughs out 549PS of max power, which marks a 30PS increase in power when compared to the outgoing G55 AMG model and 780Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed 7G-Tronic gearbox. The 0 to 100 kmph mark is reached in 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 210 kmph.
