Expected Price:   80 Lakh-1 Crore Expected by:   July-Nov 2013

Tata-owned Jaguar-Land Rover is on a roll in India with healthy sales figures and high aspirational value for all its cars. Unsurprisingly, the Jaguar XK tpo has been received well in the Indian market. However, there is a lot more to come from the leaping cat for the performance enthusiasts.

The spiritual successor to the legendary Jaguar E-type was unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show in the form of the stunning F-type. The new entry-level sports car from Jaguar is inspired by the C-X16 concept that was showcased to the Indian audiences at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi. As you would expect, the F-type boasts of smooth, flowy lines and a simple yet sporty poise.

The F-type will be availabe with three engine options – two V6s and a V8. Both the V6 engines have a 3.0-litre capacity and produce 340 PS and 380 PS of power respectively. The 5.0-litre, supercharged V8 on the other hand churns out over 500 PS of power! The 0-100 km/h sprints come in 5.1, 4.8 and 4.1 seconds respectively for the three configurations. All the engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission by ZF. The F-type will be available in three trim levels – the F-type base, F-type S and F-type V8 S.

Our sources close to Jaguar tell us that the F-type’s homologation process is already underway in India. We expect the Jaguar F-type to be launched in the second or third quarter of 2013. Since the F-type targets sportscars ranging from the Porsche Boxster and the BMW Z4 to the Porsche 911 Carrera and Mercedes Benz SL-class, expect the Jag to demand a price tag of over Rs 80 lakh even for its base trim.
