Mahindra has had a runaway success with the XUV500 with over 50,000 units being sold in a little over an year of launch. However, the carmaker will not stop at that. The W6 and the W8 variants that are currently being sold in the market are loaded with a long list of features and creature comforts, making the XUV500 and value for money proposition. However, there are many consumers who buy the XUV500 purely for its aggressive styling.
Mahindra has therefore understood there like an untapped demand for XUV500 variants which may not be as feature rich, but will still maintain the same exterior appearance - complete with the daytime running LEDs and bling - at a more tempting price tag. As we learn, the XUV500 will soon be offered in W2 and W4 variants as well, which will address the demand for cheaper XUV500. These variants to bridge the gap that currently exists between the Scorpio and the XUV500 and will therefore lie in the price range of Rs 9 to 11 lakh. We expect Mahindra to introduce the W2 and W4 variants of the XUV500 by the second or third quarter of 2013.
