Mercedes-Benz New SL Class

The SL-class from Mercedes Benz was one of the first true-blue sports cars that came to India officially a few years back. The model was recently updated in the European market, bearing the carmaker’s new design philosophy. Though it will continue to be sold in the two familiar models – the SL350 and the SL500 – the 2014 SL gets new engines. The SL350 uses a V6 engine and as the SL500 is propelled by a V8. These new BlueDIRECT engines have an output of 306 PS in the SL350 and 435 PS in the SL500. The new engines, combined with the lighter chassis, promise a better performance overall.

The new SL also claims to be more comfortable and safer than the outgoing model, thanks to the crash-optimised aluminium structure and standard-fit PRE-SAFE assistance systems. The 2014 SL also features a photo-electric roof which lets you control the opacity of the panoramic glass! That is a party piece that Mercedes Benz India will surely bring to the India-spec SL as well.

The 2014 SL-class is expected to launch in India by the third quarter of 2013 at a price starting at a little over Rs 1-crore.
