Mitsubishi New Lancer

Hindustan Motors and Mitsubishi haven’t really created any waves in the sedan segment in recent times, despite having formidable products like the Lancer and the Lancer Cedia in its arsenal. The lack of success can be blamed largely to the fact that the two companies never really set a proper roadmap for these sedans even though the more updated versions of the Lancer exist in the global market.

However, 2013 could see the introduction of the new generation Lancer, since HM-Mitsubishi announced the end of the road for the Cedia in late 2012. The new Lancer looks similar to its more powerful EvoX counterpart and since the rally car does have a high level aspiration in India, the similar looking Lancer sedan could benefit from it. If launched, the new Lancer will be slotted in the executive sedan space which commands a price range of Rs 10 to 18 lakh. With the Mitsubishi Lancer’s petrol and diesel options, it could turn our to be a formidable competitor to the likes of the Chevrolet Cruze, VW Jetta and the upcoming Skoda Octavia.
