Nissan Rebadged Duster

Nissan and their partners Renault have been rolling out badge engineered products in the market - the Micra / Pulse and the Sunny / Scala being the examples. But its time for Nissan to bite back into the pie for once with a Renault product that would be rebadged to suit the Japanese carmaker’s taste. We are talking about the Duster - the compact crossover from Renault which has been tremendously successful in the Indian market, owing to its tempting price tag and the butch SUV-styling.
Nissan acknowledges the fact that a rebadged Duster could do a lot of good to the company’s Indian portfolio and also believes that there is enough space in the market for the twins to coexist. Of course, it will continue to use the same 1.5 dCi diesel motor that makes the Duster so popular; and there could be the petrol version too. With the demand for the Duster being more than what Renault can supply, Nissan will be more than happy to fill in the void - and will also offer the compact crossover at a slightly lesser price tag too. We expect the Nissan badged Duster to roll out by this festive season i.e. between August to October, 2013.
