An insight into what to expect from Mercedes Benz at the 2012 Auto Expo.
SLS AMG Roadster
Mercedes Benz has confirmed the launch of two vehicles in India at the 2012 Auto Expo, and the first up is the most premium roadster from the Mercedes range, SLS AMG Roadster. The rear wheel drive roadster is powered by a 6.2-litre V8 that produces a massive 571PS and 650Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a seven speed automatic performance gearbox with paddle shifters, and interestingly has two reverse gears. The SLS AMG is based on the famous Mercedes Benz Gullwing and is one of the most stunning looking cars. Needless to say that this car will come to India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit), and is expected to be slightly more expensive than the Coupe.
M-Class
The second launch from Mercedes is expected to be the new M-Class 2012, however there is no confirmation from the German manufacturer regarding the same. The SUV segment has seen a significant growth in India and Mercedes will try and capitalise on the same with the new ML 350. This technologically advanced SUV with radar guided cruise control, Attention Assist, Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist, is a capable off-roader and makes a mockery of its competition. Mercedes might only offer the diesel variant in India, which will also come as a CBU and may be priced a notch above the existing model.
A-Class concept
Mercedes has booked a massive 3000 square meter space at the Auto Expo and will display over 10 cars. A-Class concept will also be showcased along with the entire AMG series available in India.
