
Volkswagen entered India with a top-down approach, launching its luxury cars like the Passat, the Touareg and the Jetta to establish its premium brand image in India. Its bread-and-butter car though, came in the form of the 2010 Polo, which bagged the International Car of the Year award that year. The Polo-based Vento sedan also got off to a good start, establishing VW as a volume player in India.
