We also came to understand that the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Wrangler will be the two models that will make its way in the Indian market in the first phase. So much so, that we even snagged a couple of spy shots of both the aforementioned Jeep models being tested near Pune earlier this year. Now however, we have some more insider information about Fiat's next couple of moves in the Indian auto industry.
Foremost we understand, Fiat India will officially launch the Jeep brand in the country at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo that is slated to get underway in the month of February next year. Along with the introduction of the brand, the first three models from Jeep will also be launched at the Auto Expo, viz. Grand Cherokee, Cherokee and Wrangler. In fact, this will be the first time in the recent past that Fiat will have its own, separate exhibit at the Auto Expo - away from Tata.
Furthermore, Fiat India's bread and butter sedan and hatchback - the Linea and the Punto - are due for another facelift. While, not much is known about the Punto facelift yet, the 2014 Linea Facelift will be launched at or closer to the upcoming Auto Expo.
The Linea facelift was launched in Turkey a little while back and features a new front fascia and a revised tailgate. The vehicle has been caught testing in India quite a few times in the past couple of months. However, its hatchback sibling is nowhere to be seen, yet.
Also in the pipeline are the all-new Linea and Punto, which will be introduced in the European market in 2014, but are only expected to hit the Indian streets by 2015. We also learn that the Linea facelift will co-exist with the all-new Linea when the latter goes on sale in the Indian market.
