Italian automaker Alfa Romeo has confirmed the 4C’s lap time of 8 minutes and 4 seconds around the iconic Nurburgring circuit in Germany. The brand’s much-awaited mid-engined sportscar managed a record lap-time, setting the fastest time of cars with engines less than 250 horsepower.
With Nordschleife expert Horst von Saurma piloting the car, the lap time of 8 minutes and 4 seconds meant the 4C is as fast as bigger performance cars with even bigger engines including the Audi R8 V8 (8:04) and the BMW E92 M3 (8:05).
Powered by a 1,750cc turbocharged petrol engine, which puts out around 250PS of power and 350Nm of torque, the 4C manages to accelerate from standstill to 100kmph in 4.5 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 250kmph. What made it really quick around the gruesome Nurburgring is its impressive handling thanks to optimum weight distribution. Also contributing to car’s performance were the grippy Pirelli P Zero Trofeo tyres, the sportiest version in the Pirelli P Zero line.
