The demand for the latest-gen Range Rover as we know is already through the roof, and things aren’t any different with the sportier and more road-focused Sport version. Thanks to its ability to blend exquisite luxury with effortless performance (both on and off road), the 2014 Range Rover Sport has went on to become a massive hit overseas.
Now it won’t be long before this highly impressive sporty off-roader starts showing up on Indian roads as well since Land Rover has launched it here in the Indian market with a starting price of Rs 1.09 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the 3.0L SDV6 Diesel S version. The more powerful 5.0L V8 SC Petrol Autobiography costs a whopping Rs 1.65 crore.
Land Rover India is offering the Range Rover Sport with two engine options: There’s the 3-litre V6 diesel engine with 290 PS of power and 600 Nm of torque, and a much more powerful 5-litre supercharged V8 petrol with 510PS of power and 625 Nm of torque. Both the engines are paired with 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox which sends power to all four wheels via Land Rover’s properly sophisticated all-wheel drive system.
Shown first at the 2013 New York Motor Show in March this year, this latest-gen Range Rover Sport is faster, more agile and practical than ever. Besides the all-new Range Rover-inspired design, the new model is brand new underneath too, with the same lightweight platform as the standard Range Rover forming the basis. The all-aluminum structure has allowed a weight loss of 420kg, meaning this new Sport version is not only faster but also a lot more efficient than the earlier one.
