At the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show held in September this year, Audi unveiled two striking looking concepts namely the Sport Quattro and the very unusual Nanuk off-road supercar. Now, the German carmaker is said to be readying both the concepts for production.
According to a report by Autocar UK, the director of Audi UK André Konsbruck believes that the launch of production spec models based on the concepts will help broaden the company’s brand appeal and strengthen Audi’s presence as a whole.
The Quattro concept is a high-performance plug-in hybrid vehicle with the hybrid system producing a total output of 700hp. Designed to celebrate the 30th birth anniversary of the legendary Sport Quattro, the concept features 4-litre twin turbocharged V8 petrol engine paired to a 110 kW electric motor.
The Nanuk concept, on the other hand, is an all-wheel driver supercar crossover study that showcases all of Audi's expertise on the road, on the track and off it. Built around lightweight aluminium Audi Space Frame with a carbon-fibre outer skin, the vehicle is powered by a 5-litre diesel engine that is rated at 544 PS and 1,000 Nm.
