Detailed specifications and price list of BMW’s upcoming baby coupe – the 2-Series, have leaked onto the web by BMW’s South African website where the information was accidently published on an online configurator for the vehicle.
Like the 3-Series coupe which has made way for the new 4-Series, BMW will soon replace the ageing 1-Series coupe with the new 2-Series. Now that the details are out, we know that this upcoming model will be offered in 220i, 220d and high-performance M235i variants.
Under the hood, the range-starting 220i will be powered by a 2-litre four cylinder petrol engine with 180PS of power. 0-100kmph sprint is said to come up in just 7 seconds with a top speed of around 230kmph. According to the report, this particular model starts at 366,257 South African Rand which equates to £22,800 in the UK.
Next up is the 220d with a 2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine producing 180PS of power and 380Nm of torque. The car is priced slightly higher than the equivalent petrol model at £24,500. For the enthusiasts, there will also be a high-performance M235i variant, which uses a 3-litre turbocharged straight-six engine. Putting out over 320PS of power, BMW says it will hit 100kmph in just 4.8 seconds. The M235i is not only the fastest but also the most expensive variant of the lot with prices starting at £31,300.
Stay tuned for more as we get close to this upcoming model’s debut scheduled early next year.
