Fiat has officially launched the cut-price variant of the regular Linea in India at Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Called the Linea Classic, the new model is offered in two variants – Classic and Classic Plus.
Under the hood, the Classic gets both petrol and diesel engine options in the form of the 1.4-litre petrol and the 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine. The Classic Plus, on the other hand, is only available with a diesel engine. The 1.3-litre diesel, however, is in the 75PS form used in the Punto. The 90PS unit powering the regular Linea has been given a miss.
Being a cut-price variant, the Linea Classic loses out on most of the features including 15-inch alloy wheels, audio system, steering mounted audio controls, climate control and rear power windows. What it gets though are all-black interiors like the Punto, regular air-conditioning and front power windows.
The Linea Classic range starts at Rs 5.99 lakh for the base-spec 1.4 petrol and Rs 6.95 lakh for the 1.3-litre diesel variant. The higher grade Classic Plus is priced at Rs 7.51 lakh. With such competitive pricing, the Linea Classic will go up against the Ford Fiesta Classic, Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and the Chevrolet Sail.
