Hyundai is all set to launch the Grand i10 in India tomorrow and has released a teaser that claims that a “new language will take over the streets”. Using SMS lingo and text smileys as a part of the promotions, the marketing campaign of the Grand i10 aims at attracting the young generation of buyers – much like that of its rivals, the Stingray and the Honda Brio.
The big news is that the Grand i10 will be launched with a diesel engine – a much-awaited move from a big player in this segment. To be powered by a 1.1-litre U2 CRDi engine, the Grand i10 diesel is expected to be the cash cow for Hyundai. The petrol option will continue to use the 1.2-litre Kappa2 engine that currently powers the i10 and the i20.
The Grand i10 will be available alongside the current i10 and is expected to be priced very competitively. Initially, only four trim levels will be offered, but knowing Hyundai, further sub-categories could be added at a later stage.
