Mahindra & Mahindra, country’s leading utility automaker launched the e2o Plus 4-door electric car through its electric division with a price tag of INR 5.46 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The automaker has always emphasized on developing electric driven vehicles for more main stream market rather than niche. The company rolled out e2o two-door electric vehicle as a replacement for the Reva electric city car in the year 2013 through Reva electric which is now known as Mahindra Electric.
Now, the automaker seems to be very much aggressive with its electric division and recently took steps to further enlarge it by introducing the more practical iteration of e20. The major characteristics of the model are enhanced length, longer wheelbase, with addition of rear doors deriving it more practical in terms of appeal. It also comes with decent boot space and an enhanced range because of a larger battery pack. Through the new e2o Plus, Mahindra is basically marking its re-presence in the electric car market with a car that practically looks more like a hatch.
The new e2o Plus still focusing on marking its presence in the Indian market, the company seems to have pulled out the smaller sibling which is a 2-door e2o from the market as the product is no longer available on their official site. Currently, only three products are listed on the official site – e2o Plus, e-Verito and e-Supro. Moreover, the company has been exporting the e2o to the European market.
Now with the introduction of bigger 4-door e2o Plus, Mahindra might have pulled out the two-door e2o from India and could be offering only for export. However, there is no official confirmation regarding the discontinuation of Mahindra e2o from the Indian market. Moreover, it is also expected that the company might be looking to update the smallest offering in its electric line up. Buyers looking to buy smaller e2o can visit the dealerships to find out still the smaller sibling is available in stock or not.
