Mahindra KUV100 Launch Live Coverage: Price, Specifications, Features, Mileage

The company has endorsed Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan as the brand ambassador for the new mini SUV in the country. Mahindra has already released the promotional trailer for the car featuring Varun Dhawan. Like we mentioned, the KUV100 won't have a direct rival in the market. However, this niche segment will soon get new members. The Maruti Suzuki Ignis compact crossover and the Datsun GO-Cross will join this segment towards the end of this year.

With this affordable compact SUV, the homegrown automaker directly targets the young buyers looking for an SUV-ish product along with affordability. Like the TUV300, Mahindra has opted for its alpha-numeric strategy. The company claims that the KUV100 is an all-new cool SUV that will provide young buyers all the modern features at an affordable price bracket. In the name KUV100- KUV stands for Kool Utility Vehicle and 100 refers the series and the vehicle's positioning.

Mahindra KUV100 Exteriors

The compact SUV design seems inspired from most of Mahindra cars currently on sale in our market. Design inspiration for the small car comes from the XUV500. Unlike TUV300, the KUV100 is based on the monocoque chassis. Instead of SUV, the compact car looks more-like a jagged up hatchback. One can say that this car is more of tall boy hatchback with styling elements of a SUV. The tall boy design of the KUV100 features a high bonnet and an aggressive shoulder line that runs across the length of the sub-4 metre car. The flared wheel arches have been fitted to 15-inch wheels, while the ground clearance stands at 180mm which is more than sufficient to tackle Indian road conditions.

Upfront is a XUV500 or Scorpio-inspired radiator grille, flanked by wrap-around headlamps with LED daytime running lamps and follow-me-home lamps. It features sculpted bonnet, smartly positioned LED fog lamps and a large silver skid plate. On sides, the vehicle gets mildly flared wheel arches, Wing mirrors with integrated blinkers, sloping roofline and black underbody plastic cladding. The rear door handles is positioned on the pillar, which seems identical to the one offered on the Chevrolet Beat. The compact SUV rides on 6-spoke 15-inch alloy wheels shod with 185/65 R15 tyres. Unlike the aggressive front, the rear profile looks simple. It features large wraparound taillamps, roof-mounted spoiler, black plastic cladding and rear wiper/washer.

Mahindra KUV100 Safety Features-

The compact SUV is offered with 4 trim levels - K2, K4, K6 and K8. All the variants of the SUV come equipped with ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution) and Engine Immobilizer as standard, while dual airbags come as an optional safety pack even with base variant.

Mahindra KUV100 Interiors

Coming to KUV100 interiors, it is nothing new except for the fact that unlike most of its league SUVs, this SUV comes with a six-seat configuration. Yes, you heard it right, the compact SUV comes with 3+3 seating configuration. The vehicle is also available with five-seat configuration. It comes with bench seats for both front and rear occupants. In order to accommodate three in front row, the gear-lever has been positioned on the dashboard. Like the Datsun Go, the small car's pull type handbrake lever is placed at the base of the centre console. We believe that six-seat configuration will be more successful in semi-urban and rural region. Talking about features, the small SUV gets dual-tone interior scheme with piano black finish for the dashboard, driver height adjustable seat, multi-functional steering wheel, cooled glove box, infotainment system with 4 speakers + 2 tweeter, and two driving modes- Power and Eco along with Mahindra's Micro Hybrid Technology.

Mahindra KUV100 Colors-

The KUV100 mini SUV is available with six exterior paint jobs- Pearl White, Designer Grey, Fiery Orange, Midnight Black, Dazzling Silver and Aquamarine.

Mahindra KUV100 Variants and Features-

The compact SUV is available with four trim levels- K2, K4, K6 and K8.
