Hoping to follow the success of the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire and the soaring buzz generated by the upcoming Honda Amaze, it is now Indian auto giant Mahindra who is about to step into the sub-4 meter segment of cars.

Although Mahindra has been working on the shortened version of the Verito for quite sometime now, the car will not be launched before the first quarter of 2013, as confirmed by the President and CEO of Mahindra’s automotive sector, Dr. Pawan Goenka.

Thanks to our good friends over at Indian Autos Blog, we can safely confirm that the sub-4 meter Verito will be launched nearly about the same time as the Honda Amaze. We expect this new model to cost around Rs 30,000 less than the standard Verito thanks to the former falling under the lower excise tax bracket. Sadly, there aren’t many details available just yet but what’s certain is that the sub-4 meter Verito will be driven by the same set of engine and drivetrain options.
