We are all well aware of the fact that Maruti Suzuki is going to launch the much anticipated Ignis urban compact hatchback on the 13th of January this year. The automaker has already revealed all the information regarding the specifics of the vehicle, while simultaneously commencing the books for the same as well at a token amount of INR 11,000.
The response for the Ignis is such that the vehicle, even before the launch has started to attract a waiting period of up to 8 weeks for the petrol variant while the same for the diesel trim stands at up to 12 weeks. The Ignis will be sold exclusively through Maruti’s NEXA dealership outlet and ahead of the launch various such dealerships have started to prepare themselves. Aimed at the millennial population of the country, the Ignis is to be made available in both petrol and diesel guises.
The former will be powered by a 1.2-litre unit churning out 83Bhp along with 114Nm of peak torque while the latter is to be a 1.3-litre unit producing 74Bhp along with 190Nm of peak torque. For handling the transmission responsibilities, there will be a 5-speed manual unit on offer while buyers can also choose from a 5-speed AMT unit as well. The prices of the Maruti Ignis are expected to start from INR 5.5 lakh and go up to INR 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
