The new C-Class looks a lot like the S-Class, doesn't it? That not just works for the C-Class by giving it a more premium look, it makes the flagship S even more desirable. So desirable that a lot of prospective S-Class buyers must be getting restless.
Well, their prayers look answered. According to a report by Autocar, Merc is planning to bring the S-Class slightly before its expected arrival. The German carmaker was expected to launch the S at the Auto Expo but the report says that the car will be here on the 8th of January 2014, i.e. a month before the 2014 Auto Expo.
Codenamed W222, the new S-Class looks brilliant, good enough to take care of the competition with its looks alone. It brings all the goodness you'd expect Merc's flagship to run. First to reach India will be the S500, the top-spec directly imported from Germany variant, which draws power from a 460PS V8 petrol engine. The diesel powered version, S350 CDI, will make an entry sometime later in 2014.
The reason behind preponed launch is the high demand for the car, and the fact that Merc has cleared the stock of the old S-Class already. Market Slump, what's that?
