The arrival of the 2014 M3 sedan and M4 coupe marks the return of one of the most iconic performance cars of all time. Now in its fifth-generation avatar, the M3 has received individual model names for sedan and coupe bodystyle with the latter getting the M4 nameplate.
The 2014 M3 and M4 are completely brand new. Which is why gone is the old naturally aspirated V8 engine in favour of the high-revving, 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 43OPS of power. Its peak torque of 550Nm comes in at just 1,850rpm, and stays on for a fair bit of time through the rev range. This new engine is not only more powerful than its V8 counterpart but fuel efficient too with BMW claiming better efficiency by up to 25 per cent.
