Skoda, a Czech based premium luxury car maker is looking to introduce the all-new 2017 Octavia in the international market by sometime in 2017. For the global market, the Octavia is offered in sedan as well as estate body style while the Indian market sees the sedan version only. Prior to its official global debut, the first images of the 2017 Skoda Octavia facelift have been revealed online.
The new Octavia facelift is expected to reach Indian shores post international debut. So, we speculate that the automaker might introduce the refreshed version of the sedan by late 2017 for the Indian market. Also, the company has no plans to introduce the estate version of the sedan in the domestic market.
As far as the design is considered, the facelift version of the sedan is expected to be in-equivalence to the upcoming Kodiaq SUV. The new 2017 Skoda Octavia will sport redesigned bumpers at the front and rear that proffers a muscular presence to the profiles. Moreover, the front appearance of the sedan will be further accentuated by the all-new headlamps which will be completely revamped to proffer a unique look to the profile. In terms of dimensions, the new Skoda Octavia is expected to carry same dimensions which stand at 4659mm of length, 1814mm of height and 1476mm of width along with the wheelbase and ground clearance of 2688mm and 155mm respectively.
On the inside, the facelift version of the sedan is expected to carry an updated 9.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphones. Moreover, the automaker will also be enhancing the richness of the cabin by employing more use of soft-touch plastics.
Coming to the powerhouses, the new 2017 Skoda Octavia facelift is expected to carry the same set of engines which does the duties on the current generation. Currently, the Octavia is powered by two petrol and one diesel units –1.4-litre TSI petrol, 1.8-litre TSI petrol and 2.0-litre TDI. The 1.4-litre TSI and 1.8-litre TSI petrol engines are capable of generating 150PS and 180PS of power along with peak torque of 250Nm. On the other hand, the oil burner is capable of producing 143 PS of power against the peak torque of 320Nm. The transmission duties are carried out by a 6-speed manual as standard with 7-speed DSG automatic and 6-speed DSG automatic offered on petrol and diesel units respectively.
As far as the pricing is concerned, the new Octavia sedan is likely to be priced in the bracket of INR 16 lakh – INR 25 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be competing in the segment against the likes of Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla Altis, Volkswagen Jetta and Chevrolet Cruze.
