As we had reported earlier, Fiat India has announced that the company will launch the next-generation models of the Punto and the Linea in early 2014, as a part of its strategy to strengthen its position in the Indian market. The move comes as no surprise considering Fiat India has been facing trouble gaining sales momentum for a long time.
Fiat has now confirmed that it will rejuvenate its product line-up with the introduction of the next-gen Punto and the Linea which are currently in the works. The current generation Punto and Linea; though fairly modern and as competitive as their rivals, are in dire need of a major upgrade.
The 2014 Punto, then, should offer more of what we have come to expect from the current model. We expect the new Punto to retain its rather distinctive Italian appearance and class-leading on-road manners. As for the 2014 Linea, the talking point will be the introduction of the new 1.6-litre diesel engine which will replace the current 1.3-litre unit. Also, like the Ford Classic, Fiat has confirmed that the current model will be badged as the Linea Classic once the next-gen model goes on sale.
