Chevrolet India has always been one of the stronger divisions of the parent company GM. And they prove the point further by making the new face lifted Spark ready for a launch around the same time as the new Maruti Suzuki Alto 800.

Production of the same is believed to have started on the 3rd of September and the company is now waiting to launch the product sometime during this month (October 2012). The Spark, as you can see, will be targeted primarily at the Alto 800 and if Chevrolet gets this right, it can very well be a yet another turning point for Chevrolet India.

On the outside, the car gets a number of revisions. Up front a new radiator grille surrounded by chrome, clear lens headlamps sans the amber blinkers and a redesigned bumper give the car a more desirable look than it's predecessor. The alloy wheel design too, has been changed and the car now comes with 5-spoke alloys. And not to mention the very Beat-like roof rails too have been added. And all this makes the new Spark look like a minuscule Beat, which we reckon is a good thing. Chrome lovers too, will be happy to see the car. The fog lamp housing too. gets a chrome surround.

Not much info is available about the power train but we expect Chevrolet to use the same units as the current generation Spark. CNG/LPG options should follow soon too.

Given the fact that Maruti has a lot to do, to make up for the lost customers, Chevrolet has a good chance of grabbing their market share. But not much can be said about how either of the products' going to be before we actually lay our hands on them.
