After launching the much awaited facelift of their Skoda Rapid last week, Czech automaker is expected to bring another treat for Indian buyers in the form of a special edition Skoda Octavia. This special edition of the above mentioned sedan will be badged as the Black Edition.
This version was earlier available for sale in the European markets and was one of the eight new models that were introduced by Skoda back in July 2014. It is considered a value for money package but will soon be pulled out of the showrooms to make way for the 2017 facelifted Skoda Octavia. However, for the Indian market, the Black Edition will continue to share the showroom space with the regular Octavia on sale currently.
As per a recent report by Autocar India, it has been revealed that the Black Edition is expected to hit Indian shore by January 2017. The car will be available in a choice of black as well as white exterior color scheme with an option of choosing from pearl or metallic paint effect. The Black Edition also features elements like the ORVM housing, 18 inch alloy wheels, roof and spoiler which will be exclusively available in black only.
The interiors also follow the same color code with all-black fabric upholstery inside the cabin. Other bits include leather seats and steering wheel cover, sunset privacy glass, an infotainment screen with Skoda specific Amundsen GPS navigation, a high definition radio, cruise control and floor mats.
In the performance department, there is no shortage of grunt as this is a Skoda and will be available with a choice of three different engine variations. Starting with petrol, there is 1.4 TSI engine that produces 148 bhp of power output followed by a 1.8 TSI petrol motor that has an output of 178.5 bhp. On the contrary, the diesel engine is a 2.0 litre TDi oil burner that churns out a maximum power output of 142 bhp. These engines will also be available with a choice of three different transmissions - a 6-speed manual, 7-speed DSG auto and a 6-speed DSG auto gearbox. The Black Edition is expected to be available with a choice of all three engines.
