It seems Lamborghini is in no hurry to go the Porsche way by building an SUV as the company’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann himself has confirmed that the production model of the controversial Urus concept, shown earlier during the year, won’t make it production before 2017.

Speaking with Auto Express, Mr. Winkelmann said, “The Urus isn’t an immediate priority and won’t happen until 2017 at the earliest, if the board decides to sign it off. To be honest, we don’t need it right now, as we have plenty of new cars available that are selling well and will continue to sell well.”

The Urus, which made its debut at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show, was probably the most controversial and talked about concept of the show primarily because it contradicted the whole Lamborghini attribute of churning out nothing but extremely low slung two-seater supercars.

Urus won't make it to production before 2017, says Lamborghini
