We are told that Hyundai India didn’t very big expectations from the Santa Fe when it was launched back in 2011 since the premium SUV was only supposed to add more weight to the carmaker’s portfolio. However, the Santa Fe has managed to sell in optimistic numbers ever since despite the failure of the earlier Hyundai badged SUVs like the Tuscon and the Terracan.
The Santa Fe was recently launched in an all-new avatar in the global market though. It now wears a significantly evolved version of Hyundai’s nature-inspired design language which makes the SUV look brawny and aggressive as compared to the model sold in India. The new generation Santa Fe too will be powered by the same 2.2-litre diesel engine that propels the current model. It puts out 197 PS of power and 420 Nm of torque. The new generation Santa Fe will be sold in three variants - a 2WD manual, a 4WD manual and a 4WD automatic. We expect the new Santa Fe to make its way into the Indian market by the end of 2013.
