With the increasing dominance of Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in the executive C-segment of sedans, Hyundai Motors India is looking to regain its position by introducing all-new avatar of its much popular Verna Sedan. With hopes to changes the fortunes for the company, the upcoming 2017 Verna sedan will be based on much popular Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language.
2017 Hyundai Verna Exterior
Having said the next generation 2017 Verna will be based on Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language, it will sport a hexagonal front grille, swept back headlamps with LED DRLs, sunroof, fog lamps and sporty bumpers. The side profile of the sedan gets a sporty look which is accentuated by the sloping roofline, revamped C-pillar and alloy wheels. The rear end of the car seems to be elegantly designed as it bags LED tail lights, all-new spoiler and repositioned license plate. Dimensionally, 2017 Hyundai Verna measures 4380mm in length, 1728mm in width and 1460mm in height along with wheelbase of 2600mm. The wheelbase of the 2017 Verna sedan is stretched by 30mm when compared to the current model. Moreover, the next generation Verna will be longer, wider and taller to its arch rival – Honda City by 5mm, 28mm and 15mm respectively.

On the inside, the new generation 2017 Hyundai Verna is expected to offer more cabin space due to the extended wheelbase denoting spacious and comfortable ride for the passengers. Moreover, it is also expected that the sedan might get i20 inspired steering wheel, revamped instrument cluster, touch-screen infotainment system with GPS navigation, silver trim centre console and such other features.
2017 Hyundai Verna Engine Specifications and Performance
As far as the engine specifications are concerned, the new generation Verna is expected to share the same engine line-up with the current model. Currently, Hyundai Verna is offered in 4 engine options – 1.4-litre petrol, 1.6-litre petrol, 1.4-litre CRDi and 1.6-litre CRDi. However, the powertrain lineup will be tuned in order to provide higher performance and better fuel efficiency. The petrol units are good for 105bhp and 121 bhp while the diesel engines generate 88.7bhp and 126bhp. The transmission duties are expected to be carried out by 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox.
2017 Hyundai Verna Launch Date, Price and Competition
The facelift version of Hyundai Verna is expected to arrive in the Indian market in the early 2017 and expected to be priced slightly higher than that of the current Verna. Likely to be priced in the range of INR 8.5 lakh – INR 14 lakh (ex-showroom), the mid-sized sedan will lock horns against the likes of Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento.
